Sombrella finalist for the ‘Glazen Tulp’ award

The finalists for the FloraHolland Glazen Tulp 2013 Award have been announced. In the catagory Cut flowers Sombrella is one of five finalists. With this extraordinary disbudded chrysanthemum Deliflor Chrysanten and grower Acradia hope for the prolongation of the Glazen Tulp Award, they both won last year with Anastasia Star Pink.

The 20 finalists, divided in 4 categories, were selected during the jury meeting on 15 November. Their products were judged on, among other things, commercial attractiveness and vase life, as well as logistic efficiency and the likelihood of becoming damaged during loading.

In the category Cut flowers the finalists are:

  • Hydrangea macrophylla 'Harlekijn' (blauw) - Mts. Lambregts-van Loon (Oosteind), Mts. Saris (Maasbree)
  • Chrysanthemum Indicum Grp geplozen kas Sombrella - Arcadia (De Lier)
  • Eustoma russellianum gevuldbloemig 'Rosanne Green' - F.M. van Holst (Poeldijk)
  • Rosa tros Scented Air - Rozenkw Koene BV (Naaldwijk), W.S.G. van Kampen (Nieuwerkerk ad IJssel)
  • Zantedeschia 'Captain Odeon' - Flevo Calla BV (Almere), Kwekery Zandvoort VOF (Huissen)

The finalists will present their products on December 13 to a jury made up of prominent figures. This jury is among others comprised of Rob Verlinden and Rudi and Pascal from 2Dezign. The jury will appraise the products from a commercial point of view. What does the consumer think of the products? The winners of each category will be announced on 31 January, during a festive gathering in Hotels van Oranje in Noordwijk.
